Strangequarters released their last album in 2017, which took a critical view of modern British society and those that are on the margins. Inequality, Outsiders and the Underclass in Modern Britain is a collection of 11 songs that in various ways document a series of 'outsider' or marginalized people or situations inspired by real experience.

Most of the material is new or recent. However a couple of tracks- The Outsider and Inside were written by Steve Munro and performed by Strangequarters during the 1980s. The Outsider was partly influenced by the Colin Wilson book of the same name.

The songs were recorded at Perifiter Music's Essex studio during 2016 and 2017.  Musically, the tracks vary somewhat in style, reflecting Sean and Steve's constant desire to experiment with various styles and musical influences. The  'D.I.Y' production reflects the album's ethos.
